Guest Post: Around the World Book Tips featuring Indonesia

We all love to read, enjoy numerous different genres and characters that enrich our life every day. What makes our literary world so special is that each country contributes with its own masterpieces to it. Let’s travel around and experience what makes each country’s literature so special, meet new authors and novels and get to know which, for us foreign, books fellow bloggers enjoy.

I hope you enjoy my guest post series "Around the World Book Tips"!
Today Aleetha shares her favourite book(s) from her home country, Indonesia, with us. She reads MG, YA and sometimes Adult books. You can find her reviews in English and Indonesian @ It's all about books !

Which is your favorite Indonesian book and why?

There are tons of  YA book that are published in Indonesia. Most of them are contemporary. But I just enjoy some. I will only read the books which are written by my favorite authors. Let’s say Poppy D. Chusfani or Primadonna Angela.  Both of them wrote different genre. Fantasy or Science fiction are the genre that chosen by Poppy. For YA book, Donna writes many contemporary books.

But talking about Indonesian book in general,  I would prefer the Adultone.

What makes Indonesian literature so special?

In Poppy’s books, I can always find two cultures combined. Like what I read in Mirror, Mirron on The Wall, I found Javanese and Dutch. It’s always nice to find some foreign words each chapter. Not only her, I found same thing in many books. Even the adult one.

If you got the chance to write an Indonesian themed novel, what would it be about?

I’d love to write contemporary one. The touching book which will break your heart and make your eyes teary.   I am always looking forward for such book. Unfortunately I never find any. Since Indonesia consist of many island, there are lots of different legends. One of  Jaka Tarub and Seven Angels. I would love to modify them and bring them into modern world.

Which other country's book tip are you looking forward to?

I think I’d love to read book tip from Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines. I have never found or heard any book from those countries. I am sure they also have a great book.

Thank you Aleetha for being a part of my guest post series. The books you are talking about sound so foreign, but really good. I should try them!
